subject hanzismatter - medical insurance notice

Hi,

Attached is a notice sent by the medical insurance carrier called Aetna. I'm almost sure the Chinese section is illegible unless Aetna is using some kind of crazy font.

Can you please shed some light on what's going on?

Thank you.

Regards,
Lucy

The Chinese text section does appear to be jumbled either from poor printing process or incorrect font.

  1. Uh, the Chinese is mirror-imaged. How did they do that? I don't know how to even if I tried. And some of the characters are "bleeding" - vertical lines extending beyond the bottom

  2. It's weird because the Japanese section below is fine and Japanese uses modified Traditional Chinese characters.

  3. Some older versions of FreeType can't read some TrueType fonts correctly; my Linux machine used to do this when I copied a particular font from Windows over. That was the default Traditional Chinese font in Windows...

This is likely to be that problem.
